Harry Smith, a young man living in the northern part of Montgomery County, received a charge of bird shot in one of his hands about six weeks ago. Blood poisoning sat in and failing to receive proper attention, maggots have been allowed to breed in the decaying flesh. The young man suffers fearfuly and cannot get well. - kbz

It cost the county $311 to take care of Harry Smith who shot himself about a month ago, and died at the county asylum Monday. - thanks to Kim H for finding this - sad

Harry Smith, the young man who shot himself in the arm about a month ago and who was taken to the poor house, died last night.  The funeral occurred today. The boy was raised by Samuel Hoefgen and had lost his mind.
